A Breakfast to Look Forward To

I have a hard time with breakfast; it's my least favorite meal of the day even though I know that it's the most important meal of the day. I figure it's easier, or better, to skip breakfast because my only quick alternatives are those sugary cereals my kids (unfortunately) eat. Well, you might say, "Why don't you buy yourself some granola? That's healthy." Have you seen the prices of granola? Or any healthy cereal for that matter? They are outrageous; I'm not about to drop $7 on a 12 oz box of cereal that tastes like cardboard. Can we talk about whether these cereals are actually healthy? A lot of them have additives to make their cereal taste better....doesn't that defeat the purpose of being healthy?
Alright, so last week I was at Whole Foods stocking up on some of my go to healthy snacks (for a list of my go-to's, go here.) I was browsing the cereal aisle, looking for some healthier options when I stumbled upon Nature's Crunch. I was initially drawn to the cereal because of its low price ($ a box? Yes please), but as I was reading the ingredients list I noticed their ingredients are all natural. SOLD.
I went home to fill out the rebate form that was given inside the box and got to reading about
the actual company that makes this cereal. Not only are their ingredients all-natural, they are sustainably grown in South America. I'm all for helping out the locals! Even better, a percentage of their sales proceeds go to help these farmers in South America; the funds help their communities and provide them with resources they are unable to provide for themselves.
The real kicker for me was this new ingredient they discovered in South America; it's supposed to have properties that other wheat products don't have. These properties supposedly keep you fuller longer and your body absorbs ALL the nutrients present in the wheat (normally, many of these nutrients are lost in the manufacturing process). It sounded a little shady at first, but after checking out the facts and actually eating the cereal, it's pretty legit. Speaking of eating, this stuff tastes fantastic!
All in all, this cereal is not only a great product, it's one that supports the environment and helps local farmers in South America. Not only are you getting healthy, you are also doing your part to help the world.
